Overdue ... but no late fees!

Just got back from seeing the midwife. The good news is that things are progressing (60-70% cervical effacement, if you want somewhat inappropriately personal details). The DISAPPOINTING news is that she doesn’t think we’ll have the baby until next week!!!

This is especially depressing since we’ve been thinking it could be any day for the last week and when we went for a long walk last night, it seemed to trigger some action (i.e. pain), which made it seem like maybe something was going to happen soon (e.g. tonight). No such luck, apparently.

Guess we should stop thinking that every night could be the night we go into labour. Who knows, maybe it’ll even be a May baby.

The problem now is that the weather has turned gorgeous (sunny and hot) and my only mat clothes are wool sweaters and long pants. That no longer fit. And I can’t get out and garden because that requires bending over, which requires not having a full-term baby in your abdomen. And I can’t rent any more movies because the video store is now outside my steadily-shrinking walking range. And I still have a cold.

Another whole week! Might as well be a year.
