Happy Birthday, Dartmouth!

Had a lovely weekend!

In Ontario, the August long weekend is usually called "the August long weekend" or the plain old "civic holiday" but apparently in Nova Scotia, it's "Natal Day Weekend!!"

Supposedly, this has something to do with celebrating the birthday of Halifax and/or Dartmouth, though all the locals seem a little fuzzy on the details.

Either way, it's a big party.

Festivities at the d-mouth waterfront on Saturday (hamburgers!), then off to a family BBQ (more hamburgers), then downtown again for a rockin Matt Mays concert and fireworks.

Then on Sunday, picked up kids (who had a great sleepover with Grammie & Grandad), went home for naps and then time for another ... BBQ!

I've never eaten so many hamburgers in one weekend.

Then today we went to even more festivities (Natal Day Parade, "Pirate Party"). The kids couldn't exactly join in the bouncy castles fun (only went in the lame toddler "bouncy farm" and still ended up crying to get out) but were ecstatic to just get out of the house so much. And have endless treats.

So who knew?? Natal Day = good, clean family fun. Although I think we all need to go through some serious veggie detox this week.
