Is crawling a good thing or a bad thing ...?
Mela has made some great progress in the past few day towards the skill of crawling. We've only seen really gradual progress on the locomotion front over the past month and then pretty much in one day (Tuesday), she went from slightly lifting her hips to actually getting up on her knees! It's not crawling yet (she can push herself backwards but hasn't figured out how to get it in drive) but it's just a matter of time now.
Babies have been learning to crawl since the dawn of man but for some reason, I find it amazing and delightful! It really seems like a huge thing to learn how to do and I can't believe how far she's come from the little helpless baby she was just a short time ago. I'm still impressed she can hold her head up!
It's also a little terrifying. I came back into the room yesterday and she'd managed to maneuver herself over to the TV stand (she spins in circles until she gets somewhere) and was grabbing at the movies.
Guess we can't stall on the baby proofing any longer ...
Here's a play-by-play of the learning process (for the grandparents mostly):
Now, how did that trick go again?
Maybe if I turn to the side, it will help:
The hips are up!Hey, this arch is really coming in handy!
