Being at home is a walk in the park

Our nanny has been sick this week, so I've had the unexpected windfall of being home with Mela the past three days! Just in time for the summer weather to arrive, too! It's been awesome. At the beginning of the week, I was tired and stressed at the thought of all the things that needed to get done at home. Now everything's done (laundry, groceries, cleaning) and the girl and I have had some laughs.

I also have some more data for my highly scientific (n=1) study of the nutrition of working vs stay-at-home moms. Since I've been home, I have indeed eaten way more fruits and vegetables, done less snacking and gotten significantly more exercise.

For example, check out my lunch today.
Granted, it is a hamburger (last night we broke out the BBQ for the first time this season!) but it is lean ground beef, with tons of green and carrot salads (because I actually had the time to make salads).

My conclusion therefore is that, for the sake of our unborn child (and my thighs), I should only work part-time. Not to mention the time with Mela. Now if only I had unlimited vacation days, I could actually make that happen.

During our fabulous day off today (it's 23 degrees!!), Mela and I went for a long walk, did a bit of shopping and stopped by the local park. She, of course, refused to wear her hat and sunglass for more than 3 seconds, which should make for a fun summer. At least today she sat in the swing without crying, which is a bit of a breakthrough.

There couldn't be any actual "swinging," mind you, but it's progress.

Here are some pics:

She kept her arm up like this for the first 1/2 an hour of our walk, before I finally took the hat off. The sunglasses were in her mouth within seconds. Good thing our stroller has good shade.
Hanging out with Nuala in the swings:
