Checkup

We went to the doctor's today for Mela's one year checkup (and shots!). All went well, although she's more of a handful now than she used to be (wouldn't sit on my lap quietly while we waited, just want to be walked everywhere).

The needles weren't bad - she cried (put her face into my chest and sobbed - heart breaking!) but 5 minutes later was pretty much fine. She wasn't as heavy as I thought (23 lbs), although she is considered freakishly tall. She's 31.5 inches which puts her in the 98th percentile for girls her age!

Poor little giraffe.

Next appointment is in three months, when I'll be nine months pregnant. I wonder how heavy she's feel then?! And after that, she goes again in October, which is when B2 will be getting his/her three-month needles! Whoa, hard to imagine.

In other development news, we handed Mela her bottle on Monday night and when she started drinking it, we realized that she wasn't holding onto anything. It's like she was so distracted by the bottle, she forgot she couldn't stand up on her own. Nice touch to do it on her birthday. And then yesterday she let go of things a couple times and stood for a few seconds. Very exciting!

She also (on Monday) not only took things out of a container but then proceeded to put things back in the container. Big news developmentally.

Does this mean that she'll start putting away her own toys now?!

Here are a few pics from an outing last week with Nuala and Maria:
