Charmed
Today was a day of receiving.
First, Amelia received a package of beautiful clothes from her great-aunt Louie and great-uncle Bruce (see picture below). She also received a generous cheque that we'll have to decide how best to use (practical vs fun!).
She also recently received some money from great-aunt Susan and great-uncle Greg, which I used today towards a cute chew toy apple, two CDS ("Sing Along with Bob" and "Sleep Baby Sleep" by Nicolette Larson) and a cute little pink creature (I'm told it's a Backyardigan). She likes chewing on its ears. I'm pretty excited to use the lullaby CD as part of our new bedtime routine. I think I'm more touched by the songs than she is at this point but hopefully someday she'll have grown to love them.
She didn't notice but she also got a new diaper bag today. It's a little ridiculous to own more than one diaper bag really, but our other one was just too small. Babies need a lot of stuff to travel with them!
In summation, Amelia is spoiled with so many generous friends and family in her life, not only because of these gifts but everything she has received so far. I'm sure she appreciates it all on a sub-conscious level, though; every time her face lights up when she sees a new toy or is fawned over because she's wearing a cute outfit or is rocked lovingly while a lullaby plays. She is only three months old but she has a charmed life so far.
Playing with her new apple (she loves to chew on the rings):
Showing off her new dress to her friends:
p.s. She also gets her birth certificate today. She's now officially born! I can't wait to now get a passport for her - the photo should be hilarious!
