This doesn't mean we're grownup, does it?

Went to a party today at Caren and Marc's. It was a real "grown-up" party: it was in the afternoon, it wasn't potluck and there were babies there (and lots of impending baby news!).

I looked around at one point and was a little shocked to see three babies playing on the ground and think of how much our lives have changed recently. It seems like five minutes ago, we were all still dating, going to clubs and babies seemed like a distant dream.

Now we're sitting around sipping eggnog, eating shrimp rings and hot hors d'oeuvres and talking about our children. Wow.

I never thought that when I got to this point in my life, I would still feel so young.

p.s. Mela is a champ. She was terribly tired at the party (missed her nap) but didn't cry at all and played beautifully on the floor. It helped that there were new toys to explore, of course.
