It's Wednesday already?!
Life is so good this week, it's scary!
Baby Nathan has finally found his groove. It seems like his main problem really was hunger (dur) and now that he's getting enough, he's a happy boy who sleeps a lot. Hurrah!
Tonight, instead of fussing for 6 hours (and making our lives hell), he ate repeatedly and then passed out. Right now, he's been asleep since 9 pm (and it's 12:30 am). I got to take a shower, make chili and take a 2 hour nap!
I'm giddy with freedom.
Mostly, it makes me happy to think that he's not suffering any more. I mean, how fun was that for him, to cry all night? He's so smiley now the last couple days, it melts me.
And Mela said "Mama" this weekend, speaking of things melting me! I'm still working on a video clip (hard to catch in action) but it's RIDICULOUSLY cute (but maybe just to me).
Mela is good, too. Her bum problem got better but now is back again, which pretty much tells me she's sensitive to something she's eating. Lord knows what (seems fruit related) ... I'm hoping my mother-in-law can figure it out when she visits.
Mels's officially made the switch to one nap now ... it's not great since she gets cranky in the late mornings and early evening (was a crabby baby for Chris tonight) but two naps wasn't working anymore. It is great though, for giving me a long uninterrupted stretch of toddler-free time.
Poor chicken is still working on those teeth, too - most of her food goes in, gets chewed and then gets spit out. Hopefully, she's absorbing some nutrients from the process. I don't think she can survive on chewing (lead-coated) toys alone.
She's loving our new routine - we've been going to the nearby Early Years drop-in centre every morning (after mom grabs a coffee so she can stay upright) and she plays there for almost two hours.
It's an amazing set-up - she gets to run around and play with all kinds of toys (little cars to ride on, a slide with stairs, a table filled with rice, chalkboards, markers and crayons, etc) and watch other kids her age (she is so fascinated with them).
I get to get out of the house and chat with other moms (and listen to how other new moms have it worse than me!).
At 11 am every day, they have circle time, where we all sing songs (which I secretely love) and then have a healthy snack (e.g. crackers and fruit).
And it's all free!
God bless our socialist country. Hopefully our new/old Prime Minister doesn't cut all the funding for programs like this.
Here are some photos:
Mela is getting so big, it's shocking. I turned my back today and she grew two inches ... and had a bowl on her head.
I had no plans to vote in the upcoming US election (I'm technically a US citizen but it seems wrong for me to vote when I feel 100% Canadian) but then they called and persuaded me. And now I'm secretly glad to participate in choosing the leader of the free world. Here, you vote for your local candidate but there, you get to pick the president directly.
Two elections in one week - fun!
Now that he's no longer crying, Nathan has discovered his feet ...
and his arms. Wow, they can move! Hi Nathan! Happy: Sad: Man, these pictures mom taped on the wall are HILARIOUS!
New Nathan likes to sleep ... and sleep ... and sleep:
These animals bore me:

Pics of Good Baby Nate are great. Love the afryn site leaf pics - you need to send me the original sized one of Chris throwing the leaves at Mimi, LOVE that one, great colors.
Love the leaf pics. The one of her looking up makes me cry a bit *sniff* You can get the originals on afryn by double-clicking.
