Let the bells ring out for babies!
Hallelujah, hallelujah!
There is a new person in the world.
Baby Eavan Burke was born last night after a very quick labour and delivery. Mama and the new little girl are doing well and Nuala has a gorgeous little sister.
Hooray for new people!
At our house, nothing but good things to report. We're all happy people these days.
Mela is happy because she gets to hop like a bunny all day, draw with markers, do "cooking" (eat all the seeds from the green peppers) and go "shopping" (put empty cracker boxes in a bag and carry it around). Her favourite activity right now is screaming. We're working on whispering, too, but she's not as interested.
Nathan's happy right now because he's a 5 month old baby (today!) and everyone knows 5 month old babies are perfect. We've finally got ourselves in a good rhythm of napping and (a real) bedtime and although he still screams like he's on fire when tired, at least now I've got him figured out and know what to do about it. He's happy almost all the time and every time a new person walks in the room, he gives them a huge, open-mouth smile, as if to say, "Oh my god! You're here?!! I love you! I'm so glad you're here!" It's awesome.
Mama's happy because her babies are happy. I'm still really tired some mornings (never totally get used to getting up 3 times a night) and pretty busy all the time but laundry is getting done, dinner is being made and I'm kissing my babes all day long. I know I'm lucky.
Dad's happy because all his family is happy and he doesn't have a baby screaming in his arms for hours each night. And for about 45 minutes each week, he actually gets to drink some coffee and read some paper. That's about as good as it gets.
Here is a pic of Eavan and some recent ones of our resident babes:
Baby Burke (so tiny)!!
Nathan and Harrison hard at work:
Ready for an adventure with Mom!
Nathan thoroughly enjoyed his first movie ("Doubt") and Mama had a great time, too!
Nathan just hanging out in the command centre:
Who doesn't love a cuddly baby?
Tummy time's not so bad!
Okay, now he's just laying on the floor smiling. Where did this happy baby come from??
Thumbs up, cool dude!
Am I a cool dude, too, Aunt Mary?
This is my view. Isn't it wonderful?
